Why No One Cares About 3 Wheel All Terrain Pushchair

3 Wheel All Terrain Pushchair

If you're looking for a pushchair for woodland walks or strolls along the high-street, an all terrain pushchair with excellent manoeuvrability will be the perfect fit. These types typically have big wheels and a surprisingly strong suspension to ensure a smooth ride over rough terrain and bumps.

Most are suitable from birth and come with a lie-flat baby seat or a newborn carrycot. These vehicles also have tyres that never flatten, and are usually made of foam.

Suspension

A genuine all-terrain pushchair will have an excellent suspension that has been specifically designed to be ultra smooth and comfortable on rough terrain. This will make your child feel relaxed and comfortable. The wheels are typically large and puncture-proof to prevent damage from sharp rocks or sharp sticks.

Some all-terrain strollers even offer the option to switch between tyres with different conditions. Depending on what  3 wheel pushchair  of terrain you like to explore, some all-terrain pushchairs have a swivel front wheel which can be locked to ensure stability, or unlocked to allow for more maneuverability when needed.

A few all-terrain strollers include a lockable brake handbrake that is more accessible with your free hand. This is more convenient than an ordinary pedal on the handlebars. This is an excellent feature for those who are inclined to climb steep hills.

If you don't want to go as extreme as an all-terrain pushchair there are plenty of strollers that offer excellent - but not the ultimate off-road capability, with excellent suspension and large wheels. These are typically cheaper than the more expensive full-on all-terrain pushchairs however they are perfectly suitable for excursions to the park with your dog or short walks around the countryside.

A lot of these pushchairs can be used for babies from birth, whether with a carrycot or a newborn-ready car seat. Be aware, however, that when it comes to pushing over bumps and dips the seats will not lie completely flat. As per EU regulations, they have to meet minimum requirements for recline of around 150 degrees. Certain brands, such as Graco, have overcome this issue with their "comfitech" suspension in the seat that allows the seat to recline at a slightly more flatter angle to provide a bit more comfort. This feature is available on the Lila XP all-terrain pushchair which can be used in conjunction with an appropriate Graco infant car seat to create a 3 in 1 travel system.

Seat

There's a whole range of 3-wheel all terrain pushchairs to pick from that offer excellent off-road performance. They are ideal if you live in the countryside or walk frequently on rough, uneven terrain. They are typically more durable and durable than a standard pushchair, and have special features like large wheels that can withstand punctures to withstand the toughest of surfaces. They are usually quite wide, so may be difficult to maneuver in narrow spaces or through aisles in shops.

The seat of an all-terrain buggy could be facing the world or towards the parent and expands with your child from newborn to toddler (it's suitable for children as young as 6 months). It's equipped with foam-filled 'never flat' tyres that provide smooth rides, dual frame suspension and lavish padding inside the seat, which provides great postural support and comfort. It also has a reclining mechanism, an expansive sun hood that extends, integrated ventilation and an integrated pocket for smartphones.

The new Out 'n' About Nipper V5 is another excellent choice. It's an all-terrain stroller that is an inspiration. It comes with excellent suspension and tyres with air-filled so it's able to jog when your child is of the right age. It also comes with the ability to lock the front 360 swivel wheel that allows for manoeuvrability and a one-handed fold that's super simple and quick. It's suitable for babies from birth and can be combined with an UPPAbaby carrycot, or infant car seat adaptors (sold separately).

A majority of all-terrain pushchairs lack a reversible seat, but the models like the Oyster 3, Venicci Tinum and egg 2 do offer this option, and both provide an excellent level of off-road performance and have an acceptable weight limit for a two-year old. Many pushchairs are classified as all-rounders. These include the iCandy Pear, Bugaboo Cameleon and others. They are able to navigate rough terrain in parks or National Trust locations, but do not have the off-road capabilities of real all-terrain strollers.

There are also crossover models, which are a great alternative to extreme off-road and high-street and offer excellent all-terrain capabilities with big wheels and excellent suspension, but they're designed like a standard pushchair, with reversible seats and the option of a full carrycot and can be used on a daily basis. Some of the best ones are made by brands such as iCandy Easywalker and Bugaboo.

Wheels

All-terrain pushchairs are essential when you live in a rural area or take your child on regular walks on rough terrain. These pushchairs typically come with larger back wheels than standard pushchairs, which makes them more adept in handling rough off-road terrain, and ensuring an easy ride for your child. Many models also have robust suspension that is puncture-proof so they can be used on grass, woodland paths and forest paths, as well as gravel roads, and market town cobbles.

Certain all-terrain pushchairs have a lockable front wheel which offers more stability when walking on rough terrain and on high kerbs. Some models have swivel wheels at the front, which allow you to move the buggy with ease in case you want to change direction or turn corners.

Most all-terrain pushchairs feature air-filled tyres which offer excellent shock absorption and are perfect for rough terrain, however they're more susceptible to punctures than EVA tyres that are used on lightweight city strollers therefore it's a good idea to invest in a repair kit with spare tubes and a pump alongside your pushchair. Certain models come with foam tyres which are less prone to puncture but could be more difficult to push.

The brand new Bugaboo Fox 5 pushchair is a great model of a stroller that has both foam and air filled tyres. It also comes with a fantastic suspension and large rear wheels that are puncture proof and ideal for off-road use or jogging (once your child reaches the appropriate age). The model can also be used from birth with a carrycot or an incline-flat chair.

Another alternative is the iCandy Peach All-Terrain, which features large tyres as well as a single steering wheel at the front. It's not as flexible as other all-terrain strollers on this list, but it can be able to handle terrain that is hilly and has a spacious one-handed fold that is great for long walks in the countryside, or long journeys. It's also suitable for children from birth and has a huge sun canopy that can be extended as well as a number of fantastic features for parents including an easy-to-use brake pedal, adjustable handlebar and generously big basket.

Storage

There are excellent all-terrain pushchairs designed for parents who would like to take their child off-road but don't want to tackle Ben Nevis. They are the best of both. Look for a model with excellent all-terrain capabilities, durable suspension and large puncture-proof wheels. However, they are designed in a more traditional pushchair style with reversible seats and all carrycot options.

UPPAbaby's popular Ridge all-terrain pushchair is an excellent illustration of this. It provides excellent suspension, a simple fold and a generous 10kg basket, but it also comes with features that are suitable for parents, such as an adjustable handlebar, hand-operated brake on the right side and a huge covered storage space. A hood that can be removed and brushed down with cool soapy water is another handy feature that will help to stop mould and mildew from growing.

If you are planning to take your all-terrain stroller off-road, opt for air-filled tires instead of rubber grips. They'll provide a more comfortable ride on uneven ground and be easier to manoeuvre in tight spaces. If you are planning to use your all-terrain pushchair to do occasional jogging, be sure the front wheel can pivot or has a quick release feature so it can be locked in place to provide more stability.

To ensure that the fabric is in pristine condition, it's important to make sure they can be washed by a machine. If not, spot cleaning with warm water and a small amount of gentle soap should suffice. The fabric can be dried completely outside to avoid mould or mildew.

The majority of our three wheel all terrain pushchairs are suitable for use from the time of birth. You should search for models with a fully lying-flat seat with an adjustable backrest. This allows you to use the pushchair from the time your baby is born until the time your child reaches three years old. If you want to travel with your family of three, there are plenty of models that are compatible with car seats due to built-in adaptors. If you'd prefer to leave the car at home, there are some all-terrain pushchairs with fixed front wheels that are ideal for casual strolls or jogging light, such as the Delta Special Needs all-terrain jogger from Delichon that is available in a range of frame and canvas sizes that can be used by adults and children.
